Nothing beats the good old-fashioned snap trap

A few days of waiting to see if our landlords pansy-ass spinner traps would work, and I decided to take matters into my own hands with my own unique set of skills. Caught one the very first night. Right through the skull. Bitch had it comin'.

If you found one, there are more. I use the snap traps and the special bait sold at the hardware store. Peanut butter is great but dries out faster.

I was once woken up by the snap of a mouse getting caught in my trap. I turned the light on and found it still breathing. So I took it outside right away while it was still alive to let the barn cats have their way with it.

Oh I’ll definitely be setting the traps again tonight. I’ve never had great luck with special bait, and we always have plenty of peanut butter in stock anyway.

Next time, try Fritos. No, really.

I had this bastard inside my Odyssey for close to a week before I nailed the fucker. I’m not sure how he got in, but he was gnawing on the rubber seatbelt mount covers and gnawing through the water bottles I keep in the trunk. I tried glue traps, but a exterminator gave me two big-ass snap traps and told me to bait them with Fritos. Caught him the first night using the snappers and Fritos.

I had a mouse problem this winter where I store my car. I used snappers, glue, and baits. 7 dead in one check, none since. Used peanut butter on the snaps. Only one was caught in a trap, the rest ate the decon. So I guess decon worked better for me. Usually I just use snap traps and they work well.

The thing with Decon is that then you have to recover the dead rotting mice who-knows-where. Not much of a problem in a garage or shop, but in an apartment or house, especially with a dog and child, not so great. Easily the best and simplest solution outdoors, though.

Me neither. But the exterminator said its the only thing he uses. Worked for me!

No, I won’t let them in my house. I am addicted to them. I would eat the whole bag and never have any for the traps. I can and have eaten a whole family size bag at one go.

Now all of the other mice have seen how it works and will avoid it.

I use peanut butter on my traps for the first go-around every fall. I have to upgrade to fritos or cheese after the first catch. The mice learn after their compadre dies that they can just lick peanut butter off the trigger without setting off the trap.

i like the peanut butter, i usually tie a string through it. alot of times i just use whatever it is that they are on after. fritos are another magic bait. i’ve been told by the old people to use coca cola, that mice cant burp.

Ttyymmnn’s rat was a jalop rat, but it still needed to die.

I killed a rat a few weeks ago who escaped death three times. The key, and this is important, is to mount the trap to a larger piece of wood, so that the trap remains stationary when it springs. The bait that worked was goat cheese. He kept eating the Fritos and the peanut butter but not springing the trap.

My understanding was that the Decon caused the rat to desicate. That’s what kills the rat and it dries out the body so that stink is less of an issue.
